Frank Hujber

For Frank Hujber, coaching hockey has always been about fostering lifelong connections and building character through a shared love of the game. As he enters the 2026-2027 season, marking his third year with the Nassau County Lions travel program, he brings well over a decade of coaching experience to his role behind the bench.

Frank’s coaching journey began in 2011 within the grassroots of the Nassau County House League program. He transitioned into travel hockey with the Freeport Arrows before moving to the Long Island Gulls program. There, he guided athletes at the 14U to 18U levels.

In 2018, Frank attained his USA Hockey Level 5 certification.

The crowning achievement of Frank’s coaching career came during the 2019-2020 season, when he helped guide the Long Island Gulls 16U A squad to a Regional Silver Stick Championship, and an LIAHL Championship. The team capped off their run by capturing the International Silver Stick Championship in Newmarket, Ontario.

While the Silver Stick trophy remains a milestone, the true reward for Frank was the culture he has built and instilling in his players along the way.

"To witness the bond that persists more than five years later among those athletes, knowing the collective effort required to achieve that success, remains one of my proudest accomplishments,"

Frank has served as the head coach and general manager for multiple spring and summer tournament programs, including the Iceworks Islanders and the L.I. Mavericks. Additionally, he previously served as the Head Coach for the Wantagh Seaford Baymen Middle School program.

For the upcoming season, Frank returns for his second consecutive year leading the Nassau County Lions 2015 (11U AA) team. Lions families can look forward to the execution of his "team-first" philosophy—a high-energy, disciplined, and educational environment engineered to maximize player development while cultivating a permanent passion for the game.
