Jon Yuengling
Jon Yuengling began his youth hockey career with the Nassau County Lions, playing with the program from Squirts through Midget. He was a member of the 1997 Bantam Lions team that captured the New York State Championship. Jon represented team Long Island in the New York State Empire Games in 1998, and was also invited to attend the USA Hockey New York State Select Camps at ages 15, 16 and 17 (1997-1999).
Jon played two years of Junior Hockey (1998-2000) for the Suffolk PAL Jr. B program in the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League (MetJHL). Jon helped his team win League Championships both years, allowing them to compete for the National Championship.
Jon also played four years of varsity hockey for the Bellmore-Merrick Bulldogs from 1997-2000. Jon led his team in scoring, was team captain, was voted MVP, and participated in the Vytra Cup All-Star Game on three occasions (MVP in 2000).
After high school, Jon put hockey on pause when he pursued his career in lacrosse for Bryant University from 2000-2004. Jon is Bryant’s all-time leading goal scorer with 206 goals, and was inducted into the Bryant Hall of Fame in 2011. He was team captain, a 1st Team All-American, and is currently the third leading goal scorer in the history of NCAA D2 lacrosse.
After college, Jon began coaching hockey for Bellmore-Merrick with his father who was one of the founders of program. Jon coached freshman through varsity from 2005-2009, and received his Level 3 USA Hockey Coaching Certification.
Jon rejoined the Nassau County Lions in 2024 where he has spent the last two years coaching his son Landon at the 8U level. He is excited to make the jump to 9U with a strong group of returning players.
