Matt Orenstein

Matt Orenstein began his hockey career with the Nassau County Lions program in Mini-Mites. He played Mites through Bantams with the Lions before a brief stop with Long Beach Applecore, finishing at the Midget level back with the Lions. Matt was named to the Vytra Cup High School All-Star Team as part of the East Meadow High School Hockey Program.

He went on to play at Hofstra University, serving as assistant captain before being named captain for the 2005-2006 season. Matt led the Hofstra Pride to a conference finals appearance in 2005, and earned three All-Star and two All-Conference selections during his time with the program.

He returns to the Lions for the 2026-2027 season with the 10U AA team for his third season behind the bench.
